Rocker Gabel announces gender transition

NEW YORK — Fans of punk rock quartet Against Me! have come to know the prolific front man as Tom Gabel, but when the band goes on tour with the Cult later this month, Gabel will be taking the stage as Laura Jane Grace.
Grace — who is married with a two-year-old child, and plans to remain married to her wife — came out as transgender in Rolling Stone magazine this week, and says she plans to begin undergoing hormone therapy soon.
“Growing up, my experience with transsexualism was nothing but shame,” Grace tells the magazine.
