Equality Md. names Rep. Hoyer’s daughter to board

Stefany Hoyer-Hemmer, daughter of House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer (D-Md.), was elected as an at-large member of the board of directors of Equality Maryland. Hoyer-Hemmer is a registered nurse who works for the Mental Hygiene Administration of the Maryland Department of Health.

Hoyer-Hemmer came out as a lesbian in a Washington Blade exclusive in June. She lives with her partner in Queen Anne, Md.

She has worked in various governmental positions for the past 25 years, including time as a legislative assistant for former Gov. Parris Glendening and has been involved in politics for much of her life. She has one daughter, Judith Gray, and two grandchildren, Ava and Braedon.
