Abrams, Rayceen among this year’s Pride Heroes

Capital Pride Alliance hosts its annual Heroes Gala at the Carnegie Library (801 K St., N.W.) on Wednesday, June 1 from 7-11 p.m.

Bishop Allyson Abrams (seen here), Peter Rosenstein, Rayceen Pendarvis and Kathleen Matthews will receive the Heroes Award, given to individuals who have championed causes important to D.C.’s LGBT community. Jeri Hughes and Julius Agers will receive the Engendered Spirit award, presented to individuals who are supporters of advocates and activists in the transgender community. Chelsea Bland and Michael Creason will receive the Bill Miles Award for extraordinary contributions to Pride in D.C. Out pop singer Jeffrey Austin will perform. General admission tickets are $75.
