New York, Baltimore, Frederick, Md., have events soon

Pride events are taking place all over the East Coast in the coming weeks.

New York City Pride’s main events begin the weekend of June 24. Singer Mya will perform at Teaze, a women’s event, onSaturday, June 25. The event runs from 3 p.m.-10 a.m. Dance on the Pier, a New York City Pride’s fundraiser, is on Sunday, June 26 and begins at 2 p.m. with a performance from Fergie. The New York City Pride March is on Sunday, June 26 at noon. Details at nycpride.org.

Baltimore Pride is Tuesday, July 19 through Sunday, July, 24. The annual High Heel Race begins on Cathedral Street from Read Street to Eager Street on Saturday, July 23 at 1:30 p.m.

The Pride Parade is on Saturday, July 23 at 2 p.m. The parade route travels down Charles Street from Madison Street to Chase Street and takes place rain or shine.

Pride Block Party is on Saturday, July 23 from 4-10 p.m. Baltimore’s Queen of Comedy Shawna Alexander will host and George Lovett and Band, Crystal Waters and CeCe Peniston are the headliners. Details at baltimorepride.org.

The Pride Festival is at Druid Hill Park (2600 Madison Ave., Baltimore) on Sunday, July 24 from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. There will be local performers, vendors, a family zone and more.

Frederick Pride is at Carroll Creek Linear Park on Saturday, June 25 from 11 a.m-7 p.m. There will be a beer and wine tent, music, free “Buy Pride” bracelet for discounts for local businesses and other entertainment. Details at thefrederickcenter.org/frederick-pride.

The second annual Panhandle Pride is at Morgans Grove Park (4198 Kearneysville Pike, Shepherdstown, W.Va.) on Saturday, July 11 from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Performers include Kipyn Martin, Luscious Purr, New Wave Singers of Baltimore and more. There will be information booths and free HIV testing. Details at panhandlealliance.wix.com.

The Hampton Roads Pride “Love Unites” block party and Pridefest is June 17-18 in Norfolk, Va. Organizers have events all month. Details at hamptonroadspride.org.

CAMP Rehoboth’s final concert of the season is almost here

Chorus performs ‘Music of the Night’

CAMP Rehoboth Chorus is ready to close out another season.

CAMP Rehoboth Chorus will perform “Music of the Night” on Friday, Sept. 29 and Saturday, Sept. 30 at 7 p.m. and on Sunday, Oct. 1 at 3 p.m. at Epworth United Methodist Church. 

The chorus will sing more than 36 song selections, including “Fly Me to the Moon,” “I Could’ve Danced All Night” and “In the Still of the Nite.”

Tickets cost $25 and can be purchased on CAMP Rehoboth’s website.

‘Building Space & Amplifying Voices’ event held at AT&T Forum

“LGBTQ+ in STEAM: Building Space & Amplifying Voices” will be on Tuesday, Sept. 26 at 5 p.m. at AT&T Forum.

This event will celebrate and empower LGBTQ individuals in the science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics fields. There will be a diverse range of speakers who will share their experiences and insights on how to create more inclusive spaces and amplify LGBTQ voices in the STEAM industry.

This group is intended to provide an emotionally and physically safe space for trans people and those who may be questioning their gender identity or expression to join together in community and learn from one another. Black Lesbian Support Group will be at 11 a.m. on Zoom. This is a support group devoted to the joys and challenges of being a Black lesbian. For more details, email [email protected]

Sunday, September 24

Go Gay DC will host “LGBTQ+ Coffee & Conversation” at 12 p.m. at As You Are. This event is ideal for those looking to make new friends & connections in the DMV’s LGBTQ community. Admission is free and more details are available on Eventbrite.

AfroCode DC will be at 4 p.m. at Decades DC. This event will be an experience of non-stop music, dancing, and good vibes and a crossover of genres and a fusion of cultures. Tickets cost $40 and can be purchased on Eventbrite.
