The United States Masters Swimming rankings for 2019 have been released and LGBT-based District of Columbia Aquatics Club produced multiple top 10 swims during the year.
Sixteen club swimmers achieved individual National Top Ten times in 2019. Four of those swimmers were awarded All-American status for swimming the fastest times in the United States in their age groups in an individual event.
Twenty-none club swimmers achieved relay National Top Ten times in 2019. Nine of those swimmers were awarded All-American status for swimming the fastest times in the United States in their age groups in a relay event.
To kick off their 2020 season, club members traveled to Melbourne, Australia in February to compete against swimmers from 17 countries in the International Gay & Lesbian Aquatics World Championships.
When the competition wrapped, club members had won 147 medals — 75 gold, 45 silver and 32 bronze medals. Included in the medal count was one FINA world record and 15 IGLA world records.
D.C. Aquatic Club swimmers will compete locally for the next few months before heading off to swim meets later in the year in New York City, Richmond, London and Montreal.
