HELENA — Montana Democrats have approved a new party platform that moves away from calling for civil unions, to calling for full marriage equality in the state, according to long-time Montana LGBT activist Gregory Smith.

The new language reads in part, “All adults should have the right to legally marry another adult of their choice regardless of sex or gender. We believe same-sex spouses should have the same legal benefits, protections and responsibilities granted to all those who marry.”
