Neil Patrick Harris will play Count Olaf in the Netflix original series “A Series of Unfortunate Events.”

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Harris is in negotiations to take the lead role in the show based on the children’s book series “A Series of Unfortunate Events” by Daniel Handler who uses the pen name Lemony Snicket.

Mark Hudis was originally attached as the show-runner but has since left. A replacement has not yet been announced.

The series follows three rich, orphan children, Violet, Klaus and Sunny Baudelaire, who are taken into the care of their uncle Count Olaf who tries to steal their family fortune under the guise of taking care of the children.

A movie version of the books was released in 2004 starring Jim Carrey as Count Olaf.

DC Different Drummers Jazz Band to perform ‘Oasis’

Performance by combo ‘2nd Independence’ scheduled

The DC Different Drummers Jazz Band will perform on Sunday, Oct. 16 at 3 p.m. at Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Central Library.

This concert, titled “The Oasis,” will feature the 20-person big band playing jazz pieces in a variety of styles, from swing to bossa nova to jazz fusion and more. There will also be a performance from the improvisational jazz combo, 2nd Independence.
