Wanda Sykes resigned from her position as consulting producer on “Roseanne” after Roseanne Barr tweeted a racist insult at former White House aide Valerie Jarrett.

“I will not be returning to @RoseanneOnABC,” Sykes announced in a tweet on Tuesday morning.

Sykes’ resignation follows Barr’s racist comment in response to a fake news story that former President Barack Obama’s CIA spied on French presidential candidates.

“muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby=vj,” the Wrap reports Barr tweeted. Jarrett, who was not mentioned in the story, is African American and was born in Iran to American parents.

Barr deleted the tweet and called the comment a “joke.” She also announced she is taking a hiatus from Twitter.

“I apologize. I am now leaving Twitter,” Barr wrote. “I apologize to Valerie Jarrett and to all Americans. I am truly sorry for making a bad joke about her politics and her looks. I should have known better. Forgive me-my joke was in bad taste.”
