Transgender actress Jen Richards lands recurring role on ‘Nashville’
star will play a physical therapist in the country music drama

Transgender actress Jen Richards has been cast in a recurring role on “Nashville” on CMT. This will be the first time a transgender actor and character will appear on the network.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Richards will play Allyson Del Lago, “a tough but understanding physical therapist,” who helps a series regular face a difficult challenge.
Richards recently earned an Emmy nomination for her web series “Her Story,” which follows a transgender woman as she attempts to understand her attraction to women and how it affects her transgender identity. She was a cast member on reality show “I Am Cait” and will appear in the upcoming CBSÂ drama “Doubt” alongside Laverne Cox.
“Nashville” debuts its fifth season on Thursday, Jan. 5 at 9 p.m.
