Gay Men’s Chorus of Washington performs at Shaw Cava Grill grand opening
restaurant will offer a free meal to guests

Celebrate the grand opening of Cava Grill at The Shay (1921 8th St., N.W.) on Tuesday, Dec. 20 from 5-8 p.m. with free food and a performance of Christmas carols by the Gay Men’s Chorus of Washington.
Guests can enjoy a free meal to celebrate the opening of Cava Grill’s latest D.C. location. Donations will also be accepted for City Blossoms, a local non-profit organization that maintains a community garden for neighborhood youth. While waiting in line, Cava Grill will serve spiced chai green tea to guests.
Whisked will be selling holiday pies with 50 percent of donations benefitting City Blossoms.
Cava Grill offers a build-your-own Greek food experience for guests to create their own rice bowls, salads or pitas with a variety of meats, vegetables, toppings and sauces.
The Shay Cava Grill location’s normal business hours will be 11 a.m.-10 p.m. beginning on Wednesday. For more information, visit cavagrill.com.Â
The DC Black Pride Opening Reception was held at the Westin DC Downtown on Friday, May 22. Grammy Award-winning artist Durand Bernarr was the headline performer. Comedian Anthony Oakes was the host. Speakers included Human Rights Campaign President Kelley Robinson and Center For Black Equity President Kenya Hutton, as well as speakers from health organizations and sponsors. The event featured performances from Billy the Goat, Jay Columbus, Akeem Woods, Rue Pratt, Be Steadwell and Bennu Byrd.
