Best of Gay D.C. 2011

By on October 27, 2011

The Blade’s annual Best of Gay D.C. readers’ poll is back and celebrating its 10th anniversary. To honor the occasion, we’ve created a database (see below) that lists all past winners since the poll started in 2001.

DINING (2011)

NIGHTLIFE (2011)

COMMUNITY (2011)

PEOPLE (2011)

ALL PAST WINNERS (2001-2010)

The all-time top winners — JR.’s and Annie’s — are back, adding to their impressive stash. Others that have never lost, like Freddie’s Beach Bar, were also successful this year. But as always, there are some surprises. Foundry United Methodist Church came back with its first win since 2004 in the “House of Worship” category and, in a Best Of first, sadly, two awards are being given posthumously.

One of the treats of these awards is bringing things to each other’s attention that weren’t previously on our radars. Bill’s Terrace Inn has the best crabs in the area? Who knew?

Profiles were written by Juliette Ebner, Joey DiGuglielmo, Jasmine Norton, John Batac, David Placher, Patrick Folliard, Chris Johnson, Phil Reese, Kevin Naff and Brian T. Carney. Most photos by Michael Key.
