Huh, lots of bars who didn’t quite pay their dues yet.

    • More like they (or their customers) didn’t care to nominate them or get enough enough votes to qualify. *Womp womp*

      • Adam1222

I think you’re misreading the comment. There is at least one bar that has been open for about 4 weeks and few people think is good that somehow has tons of nominations. That would call the process into suspicion. *womp womp*

        • Nope, the comment was clear – the commenter doesn’t think some of the bars deserve the nomination because they are new. Fine, but If you don’t agree with it, then nominate somewhere else and vote for them! If these bars that “paid their dues” didn’t care enough to nominate themselves or didn’t have the customer support to win a nomination then so be it! How about instead we congratulate these new venues on their success!

” they (or their customers) didn’t care to nominate them or get enough enough votes to qualify. ”

The “they” in your post clearly refers to non-nominated entities; the bars referred to in the OP

It is not a “success” to be nominated if the nomination process is subject to manipulation. Well see if said establishments survive into next year. Emailing all your friends or facebook messaging your kickball team to vote may be a skill, but it doesn’t indicate quality of a business. Many of the businesses who are nominated have made getting a nomination a priority as a marketing tool, as opposed to providing high quality, reliable services.

…sometimes it is simply that… a popularity contest to get the nomination. (or the win) I prefer to support a bar, person or place that ether supports me or has done something that I feel is worthy in the past year to get a nomination. But as usual 99% of my nominations do not make the list. ..

          • “Process subject to manipulation”, “We’ll see if…”, “marketing tool” A whole lot of assumptions going on there. It’s all a conspiracy! Have a nice day, Adam.

          • Adam1222

“We’ll see” = inherently not an assumption.
I never said conspiracy. That would require active collusion. But obviously there is a symbiotic relationship between a media outlet and potential advertisers. Shrug.

  • I would love the community’s support in any of the three categories we are nominated.

  • Honored to be nominated! Thank you!
