Adore Delano sings ‘Purple Rain’ in powerful Prince tribute
‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ alum honors late musician
Adore Delano honored Prince with a rendition of “Purple Rain” during the Anaheim, Calif., stop on the RuPaul’s Drag Race Battle of the Seasons Tour on Friday.
Delano had performed “Purple Rain” as part of her shows before, but stopped including the song in her performances last year. After hearing about Prince’s death on Thursday, Delano decided to revive the cover song.
“It’s my favorite song to sing, it really is,” Delano told Yahoo Music. “It’s a song I’ve known since I was a baby. It’s like an ‘I Will Always Love You’ kind of jam… The song is so iconic. It’s cool to see the older fans have mad respect [for my version], since the song’s before my time.”
Equality Prince William Pride was held at the Harris Pavilion in Manassas, Va. on Saturday, May 16.
