Instagram launched an LGBT channel aimed at spotlighting its LGBT youth user base last week.

#VisibleMe, found under Instagram’s Explore tab, lets young LGBT people post selfies and videos of themselves talking about important topics such as coming out, bullying, body image, transitioning and dating. Viral star Brendan Jordan, college football player Conner Mertens and ‘I Am Cait’ cast member Ella Giselle are all featured on the channel.

Out YouTuber Raymond Braun created the #VisibleMe movement in conjunction with Instagram calling it a project “dedicated to making the (in)visible visible by shining a spotlight on diverse, compelling stories from LGBTQ youth all around the world” on an Instagram post.

“I created #VisibleMe with the goal of reflecting a spectrum of LGBTQ experiences, because the more times that young people tell our stories, the more we show that we have a lot of the same dreams, fears and aspirations as everyone else,” Raymond told Teen Vogue.

“When you grow up feeling different, like there’s something about you that isn’t seen as conventional or traditional, it gives you an openness to color outside the lines and chart your own life,” Raymond continued. “I hope #VisibleMe encourages everyone to celebrate diversity and embrace what makes them different. We all have that spark within us.”

A few months ago, I launched what has now become the most meaningful project in my life: #VisibleMe. #VisibleMe is dedicated to making the (in)visible visible by shining a spotlight on diverse, compelling stories from LGBTQ youth all around the world. People are more likely to support the LGBTQ community when they know someone who identifies as LGBTQ, so I hope this project provides a platform and voice to young people, helping them feel empowered and supported. And most importantly, I hope it shows LGBTQ youth that they are not alone and that they’re part of a community filled with creativity, diversity, resilience, strength, and passion. I’m so excited to share that we’re now launching #VisibleMe video to offer another avenue for people to express themselves. I encourage you to explore the hashtag #VisibleMe and check out Facebook.com/VisibleMe. Thank you to everyone who supports this project. Much love. ❤️????

An estimated 1.6 million people on Saturday attended Madonna’s free concert on Rio de Janeiro’s Copacabana Beach.

The concert, which was the last one as part of Madonna’s Celebration Tour, included a tribute to people lost to AIDS.

Bob the Drag Queen introduced Madonna before the concert began. Pabllo Vittar, a Brazilian drag queen and singer, and Anitta, a bisexual pop star who was born in Rio’s Honório Gurgel neighborhood, also joined Madonna on stage.

Congresswoman Erika Hilton, a Black travesti and former sex worker, and Rio Municipal Councilwoman Mônica Benício, the widow of Marielle Franco, a bisexual Rio Municipal Councilwoman who was assassinated in 2018, are among those who attended the concert.

“Madonna showed that we fight important fights for the human rights of Black (people), young (people), women and LGBTQIA+ people, and against all injustice, discrimination, and violence,” said Associaçao Nacional de Travestis e Transexuais (National Association of Travestis and Transsexuals), a Brazilian trans rights group known by the acronym ANTRA, on its X account. “What they call identitarianism’ is our subversion to the retrograde and conservative tackiness that plagues the country.”

The Associated Press reported the concert was Madonna’s biggest ever.
