Obituary: Dennis R. Jackson, 51
Dennis R. Jackson died on Oct. 31, according to his sister, LeAta Jackson. He was 51 and lived in Washington.
Dennis Jackson was born in D.C. on June 2,1959. He attended Peoples Congregational UCC church and D.C. public schools. After graduating from Anacostia High School, he attended Bucknell and Harvard Universities. He served six years in the U.S. Navy as a radiologist technician and after an honorable discharge, earned degrees from George Washington University.
Jackson worked as a physician’s assistant and traveled extensively to practice medicine. His favorite destination was Puerto Rico and he was fluent in Spanish. Jackson was an avid bowler. He interacted well with children and seniors, and changed careers to be a substitute teacher.
He is survived by his father, Gilbert Jackson; sisters, Towanna Thompson and LeAta Jackson; and other family members and friends.
Funeral services will be held at Hodges-Edwards Funeral Home in Suitland, Md., on Friday. Visitation is scheduled at 10 a.m., with services to follow at 11 a.m.
