New Menzel musical opens at National
‘If/Then’ finds lead character seeking fresh start in the Big Apple

Idina Menzel stars in the new musical “If/Then” at The National Theatre (1321 Pennsylvania Ave. N.W.) starting Tuesday and running through December.
“If/Then” tells the story of a 40-year-old woman who moves back to New York City for a fresh start. Menzel is known for her roles on Broadway as bisexual activist Maureen Johnson in “Rent” and Elphaba in “Wicked” and for her roles in the film “Enchanted” and on the television show “Glee.”

Ashley Biden accepts award for Beau Biden at annual Rehoboth fundraiser
The 19th annual Blade Foundation Summer Kickoff Party was held on Friday, May 15 at Diego’s in Rehoboth Beach, Del. An award presentation was held for former Delaware Attorney General Beau Biden. Ashley Biden accepted the award on her brother’s behalf and gave remarks. Other speakers included Delaware state Rep. Claire Snyder-Hall, CAMP Rehoboth Executive Director Dr. Robin Brennan and Washington Blade Editor Kevin Naff. The event was a fundraiser for the Steve Elkins Memorial Fellowship in Journalism.
