Lawmakers celebrate win with karaoke

Many Marylanders wish they had been present for the karaoke rendition of "Chapel of Love." (Washington Blade file by Michael Key)

Three gay House delegates, along with members of Equality Maryland, celebrated last week’s House vote on marriage with a Baltimore bar crawl. The entourage that included Dels. Luke Clippinger, Maggie McIntosh and Mary Washington hit such watering holes as the Laughing Pint, Grand Central and Club Hippo.

At the latter’s karaoke room, the three delegates sang “Chapel of Love” to the delight of the patrons. The 1964 pop song made famous by the Dixie Cups is becoming an anthem for marriage equality advocates.
