D.C. gets taste of South Asian dance

Dakshina/Daniel Phoenix Singh Dance Company hosts its 11th annual Fall Festival of South Asian Arts at University of the District of Columbia (4200 Connecticut Ave., N.W.) Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

Friday night Malavika Sarukkai will give a short Bharata Natyam performance and a screening of the dance documentary “The Unseen Sequence.” The director of the film, Sumantra Ghosal will be there for the screening. Saturday, Shijith Nambiar and Dancers will perform. The company is gay-managed and has gay dancers.
