PHOTOS: BHT Foundation Grant Ceremony
Over $75,000 given to LGBTQ and HIV/AIDS organizations
Brother, Help Thyself rebranded its name ‘BHT Foundation’ at its annual grant ceremony at the D.C. Eagle on Saturday. BHT gave out $71,500 in grants to local LGBTQ and HIV/AIDS organizations. A “No Kings” demonstration was held in Anacostia on Saturday to protest the Trump administration. Speakers at the rally included LGBTQ activist, Rayceen Pendarvis. Following the rally, demonstrators marched across the Frederick Douglass Memorial Bridge.

The annual fantasy, comics and science fiction convention Awesome Con was held at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center on March 13-15. Featured guests included openly gay actor, author and activist, George Takei. The convention included LGBTQ panels and a “Pride Alley” with LGBTQ-specific booths in the exhibit hall.
